Prior to its renovation, Heinz Hall was once the Loew's Penn Theater, an ornate movie palace. Connected to the building (but separate from the theater space) were offices above the Mayflower Coffee Shop on the corner of Penn Avenue and Sixth Street. The marquee advertises the last show in the theater, Doc Severinsen with Henry Mazer and the Pittsburgh Symphony on February 28, 1970.
